Iarnród Éireann Celebrates Safety Excellence at 2025 Health & Safety Awards

Iarnród Éireann honoured outstanding safety performances at its 2025 Health & Safety Awards, held on Wednesday, March 25th in Portlaoise. Among the celebrated individuals were Aidan O'Sullivan, a port operative at Rosslare Europort, and Danny Ennis, Duty Supervisor at the same port.

Aidan O'Sullivan was named “Shared Services Safety Individual of the Year” for his dedication to safety and proactive approach to identifying workplace hazards. His ability to raise concerns and suggest control measures resulted in improved risk management and a safer work environment. O'Sullivan expressed his gratitude, saying, “Recognition in any form is very humbling, but when it comes from your colleagues and peers for promoting safety, it’s even more rewarding.”

Danny Ennis was recognised as the “Shared Services Safety Representative of the Year” for his active role in promoting and assisting with safety-related tasks at Rosslare Europort. Ennis has been instrumental in ensuring the safety of operations at the gateway to European trade.

The Health & Safety Awards celebrate the dedication of Iarnród Éireann’s employees who embody the company’s core value of “Always Safe,” demonstrating leadership, innovation, and a commitment to maintaining a safe working environment for all.

Kay Doyle, Director of Health and Safety for Iarnród Éireann, congratulated the awardees, stating, “These individuals have gone beyond the standard to be safety leaders.
