Irishman assaulted in australia dies from injuries
A 23 year old Galway man has died after an alleged assault in Australia two weeks ago. Thomas Keaney from Ballyconneely, Co Galway died following an alleged assault outside Euro Kebab on Aberdeen Street in Northbridge, Perth. The incident happened in the early hours of December 17th. Mr Keaney had been standing behind a taxi when he was allegedly struck, causing him to fall and hit his head off the kerb. He was taken to hospital in a critical condition and his parents travelled to Australia to be at their son's bedside. Thomas Keaney subsequently lost his fight for life. A 22-year-old man, Abbas Al Jrood, has appeared at Perth Magistrates Court facing charges of grievous bodily harm. Mr Al Jrood didn't apply for bail and will be held in custody until January 13 when he'll appear via video link.
