Larry o'brien elected chairman of new ross district
New Ross has elected its first chariman of the new Municipal District Council. Fine Gael's Larry O'Brien became chariman at the eight councillors first meeting yesterday. He was supported in the position by both his own party and Fianna Fail. Larry O'Brien says New Ross has seen huge tourism developments in the past few years and he wants to build on this. But he says there are other matters that he also wants to pursue during his year in the chair including re-opening the swimming pool, getting the flooding defences started for Marshmeadows and also getting natural gas into New Ross.
