Concerns over pitch conditions dominated Saturday’s Division 1B clash involving the Wexford camogie players against Clare. The venue was changed just two hours before throw-in, from Clareabbey to Meelick, after the original surface was ruled unplayable.
However, the new pitch had already hosted a club challenge match and was described online as a “swamp.”
Wexford’s Laura Dempsey also criticised the lack of dressing rooms and hot showers following the four-hour journey. Amid the controversy, Wexford fell to Clare on a scoreline of 0-15 to 0-09.
