It has been announced that this year’s Wexford Festival Opera will be officially opened by Rosetta Cucchi, Artistic Director of Wexford Festival Opera at 7.15pm this Friday 17 th October at a ceremony on the quays. A fireworks display supported by Wexford County Council will follow. Rosetta, an internationally-renowned pianist and director, has had a regular presence at the Festival for the past 30 years as Assistant to the Artistic Director, first under Luigi Ferrari and later under David Agler. In 2020 the Festival appointed Rosetta Cucchi as Artistic Director. This is a lovely way to mark her 3 decades at Wexford Festival Opera. The opening production will be Le Trouvère b y Verdi and will open at the National Opera House on Friday evening at 8pm. Wexford Festival Opera 2025, runs from 17 October until 1 November 2025. Artistic director Rosetta Cucchi’s 2025 programme is built around the theme of Myths & Legends. It promises 16 days of captivating performances, rare operas and new discoveries. This year's main stage operas are: Verdi | Le Trouvère (1857); Handel | Deidamia (1741) and Delius | The Magic Fountain (1895).
