Money Doctors Founder and Familiar South East Radio Voice John Lowe Dies

Tributes are being paid to Money Doctors founder John Lowe, who has died at the age of 75.

John, widely known across Ireland as “The Money Doctor”, passed away peacefully on Sunday at St Vincent’s University Hospital surrounded by his family and friends.

He was a familiar voice to South East Radio listeners and a regular contributor to both our News and Morning Mix programmes, always on hand to offer his sound, practical and straight-talking advice on personal finance.

Over many years, John became one of Ireland’s best-known financial advisers, helping people navigate everything from mortgages and savings to pensions, household budgets and the rising cost of living.

He founded what became Money Doctors in 1999 and built a reputation for explaining financial matters in a clear and accessible way.

Money Doctors said his no-nonsense and independent approach made him a familiar presence on radio, television and in newspapers, as well as a trusted adviser to thousands of clients.

The company said John will also be remembered for his warmth and dedication to those he advised.

Outside the world of finance, he had a wide range of interests including music and sport.

The Money Doctors team in Stillorgan has described the loss of its founder, mentor and friend as heartbreaking.

Plans had been put in place before John’s death to ensure the business continues for staff and clients.

John will also be fondly remembered here at South East Radio for his generosity with his time and his willingness to share advice with our listeners whenever called upon.

Funeral arrangements will be announced in due course.

His family has asked for privacy and thanked everyone who has offered messages of support and condolence.
