Gardai are warning of the growing issue of the increasing number of vehicles with illegible or unreadable number plates.
By law, plates must clearly display the full registration number, the IRL/EU flag, and the county name in Irish
They must be clean and reflective for visibility at night.
If caught with an illegible plate, drivers face a €60 fine, which can increase if the case goes to court.
