Motorists travelling on the road leading to Johnstown Castle from the old Rathaspeck Church are being urged to exercise caution following recent resurfacing works, amid reports that a number of vehicles have sustained damage.
Concerns have also been raised that there are no warning signs in place apart from signs that works are taking place, to alert drivers to the condition of the road following the works.
One motorist, who wished to remain anonymous, told South East Radio News that his tyres were badly damaged while travelling on the road. He said he was on his way to Wexford County Council to show officials the condition of his tyres after they were allegedly destroyed.
The motorist described the damage as significant and said he believes other drivers may also have been affected by the road surface.
South East Radio News has contacted Wexford County Council for comment on the reports and is awaiting a response.
In the meantime, motorists using the route are being advised to reduce their speed and exercise extra care until the situation has been clarified.
