New ross women gets 1.2 million euro in damages following hit and run
A 25 year old County Wexford woman who suffered serious head injuries in a drunken hit and run is to receive 1.2 million euro damages in a High Court settlement. Laura Byrne from New Ross was one of several pedestrians that were struck by a car at John Street in June 2009. She has been left brain damaged as a result of the crash which was caused by an un-insured drunk driver who failed to stop at the scene. He was subsequently jailed for 2 and a half years for dangerous driving.
