Tributes have been paid to the remarkable skill of a pilot who managed to crash land a plane near Carnsore beach yesterday evening.
The four people on board were on a routine marine survey, when the aircraft developed technical problems just before 5pm. A may day call was received at Shannon Rescue Centre at around 4.50 and along with other emergency services to attend were Rescue 117 from Waterford and Rescue 116 from Dublin. The two men and two women were taken to hospital, with the pilot suffering suspected broken legs.
