Teagasc offers fodder support to farmers as drought continues

Teagasc is urging farmers affected by the ongoing dry weather to start planning now for their fodder and feed requirements for the coming months and into spring 2027.

Fodder clinics are being held across several counties, including Wexford, Carlow and Wicklow, giving farmers the opportunity to get practical advice and develop an individual fodder plan.

In Wexford, clinics will take place at Gorey, Enniscorthy and Johnstown Castle on Wednesday, September 2nd, from 10am to 1pm and 2pm to 4pm.

A regional fodder webinar takes place tonight, Thursday August 27th at 7pm, covering issues including fodder budgeting, livestock numbers, diet formulation, catch crops and decisions around fertiliser and slurry.

Farmers attending the clinics are being asked to bring details of their current fodder stocks and expected livestock numbers for the next nine months.

Teagasc says taking action early will help farmers make informed decisions and avoid potential fodder shortages later in the year.
