Unions and management to meet again over bus strikes

The head of the LRC says there is a lot of pent up anger among workers at Dublin Bus and Bus Eireann. While Kieran Mulvey is still hopeful agreement can be reached, he says there is a lot of work to do over the next two days. Unions, management and staff at the Department of Transport are again meeting at the Labour Relations Commission in a bid to avert two further strike days this weekend. Speaking on his way into talks, Kieran Mulvey says he does not know if the strike will be called off. "I don't know really - it's a lot of pent up tension, a lot of pent up anger regarding this that was displayed last week by the employees...and being represented by their respective unions" he said. "So it's not easy - it's complex, it's difficult but the commission is well used to being involved in these kind of disputes and we always remain hopeful at the end of the day we'll be able to trash out agreement between all of the parties" he added.
