Families and businesses in Donaghmore, Wexford, are set to benefit from a more reliable water supply as Uisce Éireann completes crucial upgrades to the local water network. The project, which involved replacing over 1.25 kilometers of outdated water mains with modern, durable pipes, aims to reduce disruptions caused by leaks and burst pipes.
This improvement will ensure a stronger, more dependable water supply for both homes and local businesses. The new system will help to reduce the loss of treated drinking water, a vital resource.
The upgrade is part of Uisce Éireann's national Leakage Reduction Programme, which is tackling leaks across the country. Following the completion in Donaghmore, crews will soon move on to Campile, where 1.85 kilometers of old pipes will be replaced. These works are expected to be completed by early summer.
Minister for Housing, Local Government and Heritage, James Browne TD, praised the project, noting its importance for local communities in Wexford. “A reliable water supply is fundamental to family and community life,” he said.
The works are part of Uisce Éireann’s continued efforts to improve water quality and reduce national leakage, with an ongoing commitment to sustainable infrastructure.
