The Wexford Folk Orchestra is celebrating 20 years of music and entertainment with a special anniversary concert in Wexford town this week.
The concert takes place at the Talbot Hotel on Thursday, October 29th, at 8pm, bringing together music, singing, storytelling and traditional mumming. Admission is free.
The orchestra has become part of Wexford’s local cultural scene, performing traditional Irish tunes and songs and showcasing the musical and vocal talents of its members.
Its musicians play a variety of instruments, including fiddles, accordions, tin whistles, mandolins, banjos and percussion, reflecting the diversity of traditional and folk music.
The milestone marks two decades of shared music-making and community involvement, with the anniversary concert offering audiences an opportunity to celebrate the orchestra’s contribution to local musical life.
Speaking on Morning Mix, Chairperson Pat Collins and Secretary Vivian McFeeters discussed the orchestra’s journey over the past 20 years and what audiences can expect from Thursday evening’s celebrations.
