Wexford not expected to see increase in housing needs

County Wexford will not see any increase in housing needs over the next seven years. That's according to a study carried out by the ESRI into the housing requirements of the country by 2021. Wexford had surplus housing to the tune of 7,000 units in 2011 and in 2021 a smaller surplus will still be there to meet the housing demands of the county. County Wexford is projected to see an increase of around 300 households every year for the next seven but our existing housing stock should cater for this according to the study. However North Wexford is often regarded as being within the Dublin commuter belt and a housing shortage is forecast for these areas. This according to the ESRI's Doctor Edgar Morgenroth will lead to rising prices.
