Wexford town awarded purple flag for nightlife

Wexford Town has been awarded a Purple Flag for it's nightlife.

The award is expected to be worth 3.1 million euro to the town over the next 3 years. Similar to the Blue Flag for beaches, the Purple Flag is awarded to a town for excellence in their night life facilities. Wexford was one of 22 towns and cities in Ireland to receive the award this year. Bars, hotels and restaurants are expected to feel the benefits as 10,000 extra tourists are expected to travel to the 'must visit' location.
