Gardaí are appealing for witnesses following a fatal road traffic incident in New Ross, Co. Wexford, on Tuesday January 20th, 2026. The incident involved a single-vehicle collision on the L4007 at Maudlin’s Cross just outside New Ross at approximately 1:10pm. The driver of the vehicle a male in his 60s was tragically pronounced dead at the scene. His body was removed to the mortuary at University Hospital Waterford where a post-mortem examination will be conducted. The coroner was notified and no other injuries were reported at the time. Gardaí are appealing to any road users who may have dash-cam footage or were in the area between 12:30pm and 1:30pm on Tuesday, January 20th, to come forward with information. The footage could prove crucial to the investigation. The L4007 was closed for several hours while Garda Forensic Collision Investigators conducted a technical examination of the scene.
