Work on a long-awaited footpath along Ballytegan Road in Gorey is expected to begin before Christmas, with funding now in place for the project.
The development will be delivered in phases, connecting the Arklow Road junction with Tara Rock GAA Club and providing a safer route for pedestrians travelling between the area and Gorey town.
The planned works include a footpath from the Arklow Road junction to the northern boundary of St Waleran’s, followed by a further section linking St Waleran’s with the entrance to The Rock GAA Club. Funding for the scheme was announced in June as part of a wider investment in infrastructure to support housing and development in Gorey.
Wicklow-Wexford TD Malcolm Byrne has welcomed the progress, saying he will continue to press for improvements to pedestrian infrastructure in other parts of the area, including Garden City.
The project is expected to improve pedestrian safety and accessibility as Gorey continues to grow, with calls for investment in local infrastructure to keep pace with the town’s development.
