SEANAD TO DEBATE ABORTION LEGISLATION AFTER PASSING THROUGH THE DAIL

The Seanad is to debate legislation providing for abortion in Ireland after the proposed law was passed in the Dail last night.

It’s hoped the upper house will sit on Tuesday of next week to discuss the bill.

The government has committed to making abortion available by January.

Together for Yes Campaigner Ailbhe Smyth hopes those opposed to abortion will not unduly delay the debate.
