Teenager from the South East pleads for help as “she doesn’t want to die”

A teenager from the South East battling a rare form of cancer is asking for help in raising money to cover the costs of her life-saving specialist treatment in the USA.

Eighteen year old Shauntelle Tynan from Carlow, was diagnosed with an extremely rare form of cancer, multi-system Histiocytosis X Langerhans cell histiocytosis, two years ago.

Since her diagnosis the cancer has spread to her gastrointestinal system, colon and skin and she has gone through many failed treatments in Ireland and Texas.

In her latest video Shauntelle, explains how doctors in Ireland and the EU do not have enough knowledge of her particular type of cancer to treat it, and the only specialised care she is able to receive is in Texas.

The costs of travelling to Texas for this latest treatment is estimated at €350,000.
