Wexford Senator Suggests Adding More Measures To Plain Packaging Bill

WEXFORD SENATOR SUGGESTS ADDING MORE MEASURES TO PLAIN PACKAGING BILL

After the Health Minister announced plans to bring in plain packaging for cigarettes a Wexford Sentor has suggested adding more measures to the bill.

Jim Walsh suggested in a debate on the move in the Seanad this week that it could also be mandatory for tobacco companies to include a list of ingredients on packets.

Senator Walsh says the practice is already mandatory for the pharmacutical industry and could be extended to the tobacco companies.

He says a full list of chemical ingredients should be included outlining the risks of each of them and their effects on smokers.
