Rural students in this country are more likely to be cyberbullied, compared to their urban peers.

That’s according to data compiled by Ireland’s study website, Studyclix, which also revealed that almost one-quarter of students say they have witnessed an example of cyberbullying in the last year.

Wicklow fared the worst in the survey with 38 per-cent of children saying they had observed online abuse while Roscommon had the lowest figure on the list at 17 per-cent.

Dublin students reported a figure of 26 per-cent, Cork 28 per-cent, Limerick 25 and Galway 18.

The survey also uncovered that over half of all students claimed to be “addicted to their phone” with 49 per-cent admitting to checking it in class.
