REFUGEES WHO CAME THROUGH ROSSLARE WANTED TO GO TO THE U.K NOT IRELAND

The refugees who came through Rosslare Europort in two containers over the weekend never intended to come here.

That’s the view of the President of the Irish Road Hauliers Association, Wexford woman Verona Murphy.

She says French authorites forced them to abandon their temporary living quarters in Calais and they dispersed to other ports.

Verona Murphy says the situation is putting a lot of pressure on her members but all the migrants are trying to make it to the UK:

“As a result of them being evicted they are just simply dispersing to other ports in France and Belgium and this as a result, you can see at the weekend, Ireland has been the recipient of 16 migrants or regfugees” she said.

“They certainly don’t want to come to Ireland, when the migrants…notified the authorities that they were in a trailer, the first thing they asked, I am aware, is that were they in the U.K” she added.
