Gardai And Teachers To Strike This Week

We’re facing a week of industrial discontent with Gardai and teachers both taking action in the days ahead.

Meanwhile train drivers are being balloted on their next move.

Gardaí and members of the teaching union the ASTI are both involved in long running disputes over pay and conditions.

The various disputes surround the Lansdowne Road Agreement and FEMPI – the Financial Emergency Measures in the Public Interest Act 2015.

Members of the GRA and the AGSI are planning four days of action next month, while members of the AGSI who refused to operate the PULSE Garda computer system last Friday will also withdraw from administration duties this Friday.

Both of the Garda unions are in a dispute with the Department of Justice over their working conditions and the issue of pay restoration.
