Chevron College approved as a Higher Education Institution by QQI

Quality & Qualifications Ireland (QQI) is the state agency responsible for promoting the quality, integrity and reputation of Ireland’s further and higher education system, ensuring that learners achieve qualifications that are valued nationally and internationally. Established in 2005, Chevron College is wholly owned by well known businessman Karl Fitzpatrick and employs over 100 staff in Wexford town.

Since 2014, Chevron College has successfully delivered a range of higher education programmes through a collaborative partnership with both the University of East London and the University of Sunderland. Due to its significant growth in this area, in 2020, the strategic decision was taken by Chevron to seek approval from QQI as a Higher Education Institution, to enable it to have higher education programmes accredited in its own right.

Speaking about this landmark achievement for the College, Mr. Fitzpatrick said “Today is a very proud day for my team and I. Chevron is the first privately owned e-learning provider in the South East to secure Higher Education Institution status with QQI, which enables the College to deliver University level programmes. This approval provides the College with a formidable opportunity for growth and I expect that as a result we will conservatively create 50 highly skilled roles in the areas of academic advisors, instructional designers, multimedia content developers, assessment strategists and co-ordinators, quality assurance specialists and digital marketers over the next three years.”
