ARMY CALLED IN TO DEAL WITH FLOODS IN MOUNTMELLICK

Soldiers are arriving in Moutmellick in Laois to help clean up this morning, after massive floods last night.

The army was called in after families were forced from their homes by three rivers which burst their banks during heavy rain.

President Michael D Higgins has expressed his concern and sympathy for all affected.

While the local County Council has set up a support centre.
