The Garda Representative Association is defending members against criticism from the new Garda Commissioner.
Drew Harris said the Public Order Unit should not have worn balaclavas at a housing protest in North Frederick Street in Dublin.
But GRA President, Jim Mulligan defended the use of balaclavas as part of the uniform and equipment given to the unit.
