HSE SAY DONEGAL MAN DID NOT DIE OF EBOLA

The HSE has confirmed a Donegal man at the centre of an Ebola scare, did not die as a result of the virus.

Dessie Quinn, a father of one in his early forties, became ill on his return from Sierra Leone.

He was being treated for malaria.

However, there were fears he had contracted Ebola.

But tests carried out on his body have ruled it out.

The HSE says infection control procedures, which had been put in place as a precautionary measure, will now be stepped down.

The cause of death has not yet been revealed.

More than 1,300 have died from the ebola virus in an outbreak affecting a number of countries in West Africa.
