LABOUR TO REVIEW HOW THEY CHOOSE LEADER AT WEXFORD CONFERENCE

The Labour Party is to reform the way it chooses its leader.

The issue will be debated at the party’s annual conference in Wexford next month.

Currently a TD has to get a proposer and seconder for his nomination from within the parliamentary party.

The proposal is to change that to include Senators and MEPs as well.

There was some controversy within the party last year when Alan Kelly couldn’t get a seconder for his nomination to oppose Brendan Howlin as leader.

This years conference is taking place in Wexford from April 21st to 23rd.
