Major Investment In Water Infrastructure In County Wexford

MAJOR INVESTMENT IN WATER INFRASTRUCTURE IN COUNTY WEXFORD

Wexford County Council has been allocated over half a million euro for Group Water and Sewerage Schemes for 2014.

Nationally over 20 million euro has this year been allocated for the schemes.

The Minister for the Environment Phil Hogan yesterday announced his department’s 2014 block grant allocations to local authorities for Group Water and Sewerage Schemes with County Wexford receiving over 530-thousand euro.

The funding is aimed mainly at the improvement of Water quality and upgrading and conservation works in group water scheme distribution networks.

The Minister also announced that he has increased the maximum grant per house applying to new group water schemes.

The Department funds 85 per cent of the costs with a maximum grant per house now available to the amount of €7,475 – a thousand euro increase.
