Alternative water supplies have been put in place for customers in Taghmon, County Wexford, after a burst water main caused significant disruption to supply.
Uisce Éireann confirmed that homes and businesses in the area may experience intermittent outages and reduced pressure as crews work to repair the damaged main.
Repair works are ongoing and are expected to be completed by approximately 2pm today (Thursday. However, it may take a number of hours after that for normal water supply to fully return, particularly for customers located at the end of the network or on higher ground.
To support affected residents, alternative water supplies have been deployed. IBC tanks have been placed in residential areas throughout the village, while a water tanker is also available at the Taghmon Camross GAA Club grounds.
Uisce Éireann’s Water Network Operations Manager, Padraig Lyng, acknowledged the inconvenience caused, particularly given the current warm weather conditions.
He thanked customers for their patience and understanding while repair works continue.
Customers registered as vulnerable users will receive direct communication from Uisce Éireann during outages lasting more than four hours. The utility is also encouraging people to sign up for its free text alert service to receive real-time updates.
Uisce Éireann says it will continue to provide updates as work progresses and supply is restored.
