A group of amateur cyclists have embarked on a 400km journey from Co. Wexford to Scotland in memory of Nick Sheridan, a former RTÉ journalist who passed away in 2024 at the age of 32 following a brain aneurysm.
The 'Shore to Shore’ cycle began this morning with a swim at Curracloe Beach in Wexford and will finish at Loch Lomond in Glasgow on Monday.
Nick Sheridan, who worked at RTÉ, STV, and BBC Scotland, was also an accomplished author and lecturer. Tributes following his death were paid across Ireland and Scotland, including in the Scottish Parliament.
The cycle is raising funds for the Rainbow Autism Unit in Wexford and the Neurological Unit at the Royal Hospital for Children in Glasgow. Over €30,000 has been raised so far.
Brian Sheridan, Nick's brother, said the event is a fitting tribute, combining Nick’s love for the outdoors with his life in both Ireland and Scotland.
