Wexford Libraries have partnered with the Vodafone Foundation to launch a new tablet loan scheme aimed at helping older people across the county improve their digital skills. The initiative is part of the Hi Digital programme, developed in partnership with ALONE, and is now available across all five public library branches in County Wexford. The scheme allows library members to borrow tablets for up to four weeks. The devices come pre-loaded with the Hi Digital training course, mobile data, and popular apps such as BorrowBox and RTÉ Player. The programme is designed to remove common barriers to digital access, including lack of devices, limited internet access at home, and low confidence in using technology. Hi Digital offers free, easy-to-follow online lessons covering topics such as using smartphones, getting online, staying safe from scams, and using everyday apps like WhatsApp. Library staff in each branch will also be available to support users throughout the programme, helping learners progress at their own pace in a familiar community setting. Cathaoirleach of Wexford County Council, Cllr Joe Sullivan, said the scheme is a valuable resource for age-friendly library users who want to learn more about technology and online services. The tablet loan programme is now available in all Wexford library branches, with more information available from local libraries.
