A North Wexford TD has raised questions in the Dail about Ireland’s approach to meeting 2030 climate targets, warning that giant wind turbines are being built too close to rural communities.
FG Brian Brennan has asked whether alternatives like solar panels, improved incentive schemes, or offshore wind—currently untapped in the Irish Sea—should be prioritized instead.
Citing villages such as Cranford in Wexford, he said the turbines, towering as high as Dublin’s Spire and stretching across local parks, are overwhelming local areas.
He called for a rethink that balances climate goals with the wellbeing of rural communities.
