Sky has announced it will take legal action against 304 dodgy-box subscribers, marking a significant step in the fight against illegal streaming.
The broadcaster obtained users' personal and banking details through a court case against Wexford-based David Dunbar, who ran the illicit IPTV service "IPTV is Easy".
Sky plans to send legal warnings and could take further action, although not against all 304 subscribers at once.
The case comes amid a rise in piracy, with research showing that 47% of Irish football fans use dodgy boxes for access to pirated content.
This marks a turning point as Sky and other rights-holders, including the GAA and RTÉ, push back against a growing threat to their revenues.
This case follows previous prosecutions of resellers and individual users, with fines and jail time at stake for repeat offenders.
