Wexford County Council and the Wexford Food Producers Network signed a three-year Heads of Agreement to foster the growth and development of Wexford’s food and drink sectors. The agreement, covering the period 2026–2028, aligns with the launch of the new strategy, "Scaling Wexford Food and Drink - Driving Operational Growth and Brand Recognition 2026–2028". This strategy aims to enhance the profitability and sustainability of Wexford's food producers, with a focus on driving awareness, increasing sales and improving brand recognition in both local and national markets.
The strategy also highlights the importance of Wexford’s food sector in supporting tourism and hospitality and aims to attract future generations of food producers to the county. Wexford’s food producers play a significant role in the local and national economy, especially in rural and coastal areas and the new agreement will provide vital funding to ensure the continued growth of this sector.
At the signing ceremony, Paul Kehoe, Chairperson of the Wexford Food Producers Network, expressed gratitude for the support of Wexford County Council, acknowledging their commitment to local food businesses, from micro-enterprises to large-scale producers. Cllr Joe Sullivan, An Cathaoirleach of Wexford County Council, also praised the initiative, highlighting Wexford’s rich food heritage and the county’s significant contributions to Ireland’s food industry.
The Wexford Food Producers Network, which includes about 50 local food and drink producers, will continue to support the development of a sustainable food industry that contributes to both the local economy and the national food market. The Network is backed by Wexford County Council, Wexford Local Enterprise Office, and Wexford Local Development.
This collaboration marks a major step forward in strengthening Wexford’s food sector, enhancing the county’s identity as a producer of high-quality food and drink, and positioning Wexford food businesses for long-term success.
