Wexford has recorded a notable increase in new car registrations, according to the latest figures from the Society of the Irish Motor Industry (SIMI).
So far this year, 2,108 new cars have been registered in the county, representing a rise of almost 13% compared to the same period in 2025.
Electric vehicle uptake is also accelerating locally, with 538 new battery electric cars registered in Wexford between January and May — an increase of nearly 79% year-on-year.
The growth in Wexford reflects a wider national trend, where new car registrations rose by 39% in May, largely driven by strong demand for electric vehicles.
SIMI says hybrid and electric models continue to gain market share, as more motorists across Ireland make the switch to lower-emission vehicles.
