NOONAN SIGNALS RETURN OF MEDICAL CARDS FOR SOME WHO LOST THEM

The Finance Minister says some of those who lost medical cards in the review process will have them returned.

Michael Noonan’s comments come as he spoke out for the first time after revealing he’s been treated for skin cancer.

The 71-year-old says he’s in reasonably good form, he needs to bring in two more budgets, and at this stage plans to contest the next election.

It’s understood that those who were mid-review or were appealing the removal of their cards are now being told that they continue to have a card.

Minister Noonan says the Government hopes to give back cards to sick people who had them taken away.

He says there was a long discussion on medical cards at cabinet yesterday and the Minister for Health is bringing back detailed proposals to Government and one of them will deal with the return of medical cards for some who have lost them.
