NUMBERS ON THE LIVE REGISTER IN THE SOUTH EAST RISE IN MAY

There’s been an increase in those signing on in the South East according to figures for May.

That despite a drop nationally.

The latest figures from the Central Statistics Office show there were 51,236 people signing on in the South East region in May of this year.

That’s a jump of 282 people when compared with April when 50,954 people were on the live register.

That despite a drop nationally of around 16,000 people.

The employment situation in the South East has seen an improvement however, with an annual fall of over 4,000 in the region when figures for May 2014 are compared with the same time last year.

When the figures across Ireland are looked at the unemployment rate remains unchanged at 11.8 per cent.
