ONLY A THIRD OF DRIVERS CAUGHT WITH PHONES CONVICTED

New figures are shining a light on the conviction rate for people accused of driving while holding their phones.

More than 12 thousand people have been listed before the courts since January 2015, and just over a third were convicted.

The figures also show a wide variance in the number of convictions around the country.

Public Affairs Director with the AA Conor Faughnan believes the laws are good, but there’s clearly a problem with how they’re administered.
