Parade Dispute Settled In Belfast

PARADE DISPUTE SETTLED IN BELFAST The North’s First Minister has described an agreement to resolve a long-running parade dispute in north Belfast as significant. The three year row began after the PSNI stopped Orange Order members from marching past nationalist homes in the Ardoyne area after their annual 12th of July parade. In response bandsmen set up a makeshift camp on the junction of Twaddell Avenue and Crumlin Road – which has cost the PSNI over £20 million to police. Arlene Foster has welcomed the deal reached between three Orange Order lodges in North Belfast and Ardoyne residents representatives. The Minister for Foreign Affairs and Trade, Charlie Flanagan has acknowledged the spirit of genuine engagement and reconciliation by all sides.
