PEOPLE URGED TO STAY AWAY FROM NEW ILLEGAL DRUG

The Clinical Director of Wexford General Hospital is urging people to stay away from ecstasy tablets.

Dr. Colm Quigley made the call after a number of deaths, including one of a County Wexford teenager, have been linked with a drug sold as ecstasy but which also contains more lethal ingredients.

The death of 16 year-old Shane Cotton from New Ross, who died last weekend, is one of the deaths which is being investigated by the HSE in relation to the drug.

Dr. Quigley says the risks involved with the tablets are significant and that the deaths of four people are being linked with the drug.
