SPORT: DELANEY ARGUES HE DIDN’T MAKE CONTACT WITH BENTEKE

Former Ireland international Damien Delaney has taken to social media where he says the referee should not have given a penalty for his late tackle on Christian Benteke in their 2-1 loss to Liverpool.

The Crystal Palace centre back was a judged to made contact with the striker however Delaney says he can honestly say he didn’t make contact with Benteke and if there was slight contact he didn’t impede him and certainly didn’t feel there was enough to award a penalty in the 96th minute.

Palace are now nine points clear of the relegation zone while Liverpool are seventh six points behind the top four.

Alan Pardew says it wasn’t a penalty but Jurgen Klopp disagrees.
