SPORT: ENNISCORTHY RUGBY CLUB TAKES PROVINCIAL TOWNS CUP TITLE

Enniscorthy won their 7th Provincial Towns Cup in Cill Dara yesterday beating opponent’s Kilkenny 9-8 in a tight game.

Ivan Poole’s boot was the difference as he slotted 3 penalties, the vital winning one 2 minutes from the end.

Coach Declan O’Brien, who was the forwards coach for the winning Irish Ladies Six Nations team, was given the Man of the Match award as he announced his retirement as a player after the match.

Captain Killian Lett was presented with the Cup.

His Great Grandfather Charlie captained the Enniscorthy team that won the very first Cup way back in 1926.
