SPORT: FAI AND WEXFORD FOOTBALL LEAGUE COMPLETE FERRYCARRIG PARK DEAL

The Football Association of Ireland has announced the completion of a deal to purchase Wexford’s Ferrycarrig Park.

An agreement was made to purchase the grounds from the Receiver.

Ferrycarrig Park has been the home of Wexford Youths FC since they entered the Airtricity League in 2007, and was owned and developed by club chairman Mick Wallace.

Under the new structure, the facility will be jointly owned by the FAI and the Wexford Football League with Wexford Youths leasing the site.

The league has put 300,000 euro towards the purchase and has also agreed to build an all weather pitch at Ferrycarrig or at the league’s new grounds in Enniscorthy.

They’ll now own 49 percent of the site.

While the FAI put up the rest of the money for the deal and hold a 51 percent share.
