Sport: Wexford Footballer Graeme Molloy Announces Retirement

SPORT: WEXFORD FOOTBALLER GRAEME MOLLOY ANNOUNCES RETIREMENT

Just days before the Wexford senior football team begin their league campaign – their former Captain has been forced to announce his inter-county retirement.

Graeme Molloy – who’d undergone a knee operation last year – has been advised by his surgeons to hang up his boots.

The fullback missed a lot of last season but managed to get in some game time in the provincial championship along with the Qualifiers.

The St. James’ clubman was also instrumental in the club claiming their first senior county title last October.

Molloy says he could no longer committ to the level of inter-county training that’s required.

It is a big blow for David Power and Wexford as they begin their league campaign next Sunday against Leitrim.

The game is set for O’Kennedy Park, New Ross at 2pm.
