SPORT: WEXFORD’S BERTRAM ALLEN IN TOP 5 RIDERS IN THE WORLD
Teenage showjumping star Bertram Allen has broken into the World’s Top 5 riders in the latest world rankings.
Jumping six places in the past month, the Wexford man’s meteoric rise up the world rankings began last year when he won World Cup qualifiers in Verona and Bordeaux, made his Nations Cup debut for Ireland at Dublin and won the prestigious five-star Grand Prix on home soil in Dublin.
More recently he finished third in the Longines FEI World Cup in Las Vegas and scored a hat-trick in La Baule, France.
Allen is named on the Irish Nations Cup squad for the Swiss Nations Cup today (Friday) and will once again be expected to put in a strong performance.
