WATER IS UISCE AS TRANSLATION BREAKS DOWN

The committee investigating the future of water charges has been forced to suspend proceedings – because of a language barrier.

Senior counsel Seamus O Tuathail had been invited to speak before the committee about the possibility of a referendum on public ownership.

But Mr Ó Tuathail wants to give his evidence through Irish, and the translation system in the committee room is broken.
