WEXFORD MAN IN CRITICAL CONDITION FOLLOWING SWIMMING ACCIDENT
A Wexford man is in a ciritical condition following a swimming accident in Duncannon.
The incident happened yesterday evening.
The man in his late thirties and understood to be from nearby Fethard on Sea got into difficulties while swimming close to the shore on Duncannon beach yesterday evening at around seven thirty.
Onlookers noticed the man’s difficulties and alerted the emergency services.
The man was removed from the water where emergency medical help was on hand.
He was then removed to Waterford Regional Hospital where his condition has remained critical overnight.
Irish Water safety has issued a warning to all those entering the sea, rivers or other waterways to exercise caution at all times while swimming.
