Wexford Milk And Dairy Distributor Granted Interim Injunction Against Glanbia

WEXFORD MILK AND DAIRY DISTRIBUTOR GRANTED INTERIM INJUNCTION AGAINST GLANBIA

A North Wexford milk and dairy distributor has got an interim injunction against Glanbia.

The High Court yesterday granted the order relating to a distribution round.

Mr Justice Kevin Cross granted Bainne Alainn and its owner Shay Hayden from Enniscorthy an interim injunction restraining Glanbia from removing them from it’s distribution chain or restricting supplies.

The order comes into force today.

Shay Hayden has built up several milk rounds in North Wexford over the past twenty years and extended his business four years ago to distribute Glanbia products in and around Gorey.

He told the court it would have been impossible to build up his business without Glanbia’s contractual approval.

All his rounds are now supplied by Glanbia.

Mr Hayden told the court that Glanbia now wanted to cut back his business by thirty per cent and transfer that business to an agent of Wexford Creamery which Glanbia now owns.

He says this would make his business immediately unprofitable.

The matter is due to return to court next week.
